Britney Spears fanatic Chris Crocker has landed a television deal!
Now reality television producer 44 Blue Productions has contracted with Crocker on a development deal, only the latest example of the power of YouTube to create instant celebrity. The show will be a docusoap in the vein of MTV’s The Hills and Laguna Beach, and will follow the 19-year-old Crocker, who lives with his grandparents in Tennesse.
“Chris first got on our radar a year ago,” said 44 Blue co-founder Rasha Drachkovitch.
Crocker had been a web hit before the tear-filled Britney rant (See the clip here), having produced many popular videos on MySpace.
"It's going to pretty much be the 'Chris Crocker experience,'" Drachkovitch said. "We consider him a rebel character that people will find interesting. He's going to be a TV star."
Crocker’s commentary on the reaction to Spears’ VMA performance even found mainstream attention on Fox News. The crew made fun of the video, and Crocker responded with one of his own (see it here). You're not alone if the clip is an eerie reminder of Silence of the Lambs.
