Kanye West's mother, a former university professor, may have died of complications related to a surgical procedure at a hospital, a coroner's official said Monday.
Preliminary information indicated she died from "complications of surgery," Lt. Fred Corral told The Associated Press. An autopsy was expected to be conducted by Wednesday, Corral said. (more details)

The Czech's supermodel Petra Nemcova was on her trip to Haiti together with Hip-hop star Wyclef Jean who was named a roving ambassador by President Rene Preval in January.
Nemcova, who founded her own charity after she was injured and her boyfriend killed in a catastrophic Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004, joined Jean in visiting an adjacent cooperative sponsored by Jean's charity group, Yele Haiti.
