Jessica Simpson opens up about her love life in the June issues of Vanity Fair. The singer-actress-blondeshell admits she hasn't talked to Lachey "in years," but she says their MTV show, Newlyweds, taught her the value of good relationships.
"It made me understand what marriage is, what love is, what commitment is," Simpson tells the magazine. "In all honesty, I believe it did not affect our marriage. Because we enjoyed watching those episodes, and that will always be a time I cherish."
Simpson also said that getting married at a young age was something that came natural to her based on her Texas upbringing. "It was what we all wanted," she said. "Go to college, get married, and have babies. It was my way of thinking. At 16, every boyfriend I had I was going to marry."
Simpson has also had her share of boyfriends since she and Lachey called it quits. She was linked to musician John Mayer and movie co-stars Dane Cook and Johnny Knoxville before things got serious with her current squeeze, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.
That relationship has come under lots of scrutiny, mostly from Cowboys fans in her home state who believe in the "Jessica Jinx," or the notion that Romo performs poorly when Simpson is in attendance. Simpson takes it all in stride.
"We don't let it affect our relationship," she said. "If we did, we wouldn't be together, because it happened at the very beginning. Dating the Cowboys quarterback comes with hype, the fans, the bloggers, but I've never dated a guy that was more simple. I'm always there for him after a game, and he knows he has me to come home to."
